ദൂരെ നിന്നു നോക്കുന്ന ഒരു കാഴ്ചക്കാരന് ആ വഴി മനോഹരമായി തോന്നാം. പക്ഷെ അതിലൂടെ പോകുന്ന ഒരു യാത്രക്കാരന് മാത്രമേ ആ വഴി ശരിക്കുമറിയൂ. ചിലപ്പോ വഴിയരികിലുള്ള പൊന്തക്കാടുകളില്‍ നിന്നു വന്യജീവികള്‍ വഴി മുടക്കാം. പൂവണിഞ്ഞെന്നു തോന്നുന്ന പാറക്കെട്ടുകള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ നിന്നു വിഷപാമ്പുകള്‍ പത്തിവിടര്‍ത്തിയേക്കാം. കൂര്‍ത്ത പാറക്കല്ലുകളുടെ മുനയേറ്റു പാദം മുറിഞ്ഞേക്കാം. ചിലപ്പോ യാത്ര മുഴുമിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞെന്നും വരില്ല. വിറയ്ക്കുന്ന തണുപ്പിലും എരിയുന്ന ചൂടിലും തണല്‍ മരമില്ലാത്ത ആ വഴി മാത്രമാണ് ശരണം. അതു അയാള്‍ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത വഴിയാണ്, അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ എന്ത് വില കൊടുത്തും അയാള്‍ ആ ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലെത്തും.
